At the beginning of 2007, I had in my mind to try something that I had heard from Tony Robbins. He had said in one of his big events that the first step to making fantasy a reality was to start making it real by writing it down. I am not big on making written (or unwritten) New Year's resolutions, but I thought this time I would do it. I knew I wanted to do these leadership interviews and I was thinking about who I would really like to meet but would be pretty far-fetched in terms of really being able to do it.
I told Karen (my wife) that I would really love to meet Dr. Phil McGraw. Partly from a fascination with his success and partly from the fact that everytime I've seen him on TV I've thought to myself, "Wouldn't it be cool to have a studio with "DR. TODD" lit up in the background. (Look out Dr. Phil). So, I started looking into it and viola! I now write down my most audacious goals every year!
I wanted to talk to Phil McGraw about leadership and accountability as I figured he had some opinions on the matter. He does not dissapoint. Of course the occasional Texas aphorism jumps out at you (example: One log don't burn) but it just reinforces the idea that leaders are not victims, they take action. This was a great deal of fun and I hope you enjoy it.
